What is the Nicor Gas Budget Plan?
Designed to even out the seasonal highs and lows of your natural gas bill, the Budget Plan spreads your gas bill payments out over a 12-month period. Learn more about our Budget Plan.
Why did my Budget Plan monthly payment amount change?
The goal of the Budget Plan is to spread your gas bill over a 12-month period. Every four months, the budget plan is re-evaluated and may be adjusted up or down, or remain the same. The adjustment is determined by the cost of gas, weather, and your individual usage. To prevent large fluctuations in your Budget Plan amount, you may pay more than the suggested Budget Plan amount at any time.
Can I change my payment due date?
If your main source of income arrives after the due date on your gas bill each month, we will extend your bill's due date to help you avoid late payment charges. To find out if you are eligible for a Preferred Payment date read our Billing Information.

Can I provide Nicor Gas with a meter reading during the months you are estimating my meter?
To keep our administrative costs down, every other month Nicor Gas estimates most of our customers' meter readings based on their previous use and the weather. Then, on your next bill any difference from your actual use is automatically corrected when we use an actual meter reading. Even when your meter reading is estimated, you only pay for the gas you actually use.
If you would like to provide an actual reading to Nicor Gas during the months we are scheduled to estimate your reading, you can do so online using our My Account feature.
