At Nicor Gas,we understand that higher gas bills can have on a household budget - especially if you are on a fixed income. If you need help managing expenses, consider these assistance programs.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
LIHEAP provides qualifying low-income households assistance in one annual payment to be used for energy bills.

Percentage of Income Payment Plan (PIPP)
Nicor Gas, in partnership with the Department of Commerce and Economic Development, offers this program which allows eligible customers to pay a percentage of their monthly income to maintain their utility service. The program is designed to provide customers with an affordable, level payment plan and a chance to eliminate past-due balances.

Sharing Program
Managed by the Salvation Army, this program provides one-time annual grants to residential customers who do not qualify for federal assistance.

Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program (IHWAP)
IHWAP provides weatherization services to low income homes. To find out if you qualify for weatherization assistance, contact your local LIHEAP office or call 1-877-411-9276.

Assistance for activated military personnel
Nicor Gas offers a package of benefits to assist activated guard and reservists who reside in our service territory. Qualified applicants will need to provide documentation to ensure eligibility. Call 1-888-Nicor4u (642-6748) for more information.

Payment Arrangements
If you're behind on your natural gas bill payments, you may be eligible to make a payment arrangement. A down payment is required, and the remainder of your balance will be spread out over four months and then added to your current monthly balance. To sign up or check eligibility, visit My Account.
